Rep. Terri Sewell to host “Ultimate Ladies Power Lunch” Birmingham, AL-- Congresswoman Terri A. Sewell will host her first annual “Ultimate Ladies Power Lunch” in Birmingham on Friday, March 23, 2012. Joining Sewell will be special guest Lilly Ledbetter, who spent years fighting for women’s rights in the workplace before President Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act into law in 2009. Sewell hopes her luncheon will serve as a celebration of women’s history month and inspire women of all ages to get involved in the political process. Expected to attend are ladies from the College Democrats and other Democratic clubs, local elected officials, women representing organized labor, as well as businesswomen and attorneys from across the state. “Given recent attacks on women’s rights at both the state and national level, it is now more important than ever for women to get involved in government and make their voice heard,” Sewell says. “As women, we should embrace the fact that our voice matters, and we can make a difference with our votes, our hard work, and by simply believing that we can.” In her bid for Congress, Sewell has been endorsed by several women’s organizations including EMILY’s List, Women’s Campaign Forum, and the National Women’s Political Caucus.
