Pelosi, Democratic Caucus Approve Key Committee Recommendations

Washington, D.C. – Today, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Caucus announced a series of new appointments of Members of Congress to seats on key House committees in the 113th Congress.

“Our Democratic colleagues will offer a firm, unwavering commitment to national security and the intelligence community, to a thriving middle class and fiscal responsibility, to rural families and strong oversight in committee hearings and on the floor of the House,” Leader Pelosi said.  “Each of these committee assignments is a reflection of our caucus’ ongoing work to protect and defend our country, our citizens, our values, and our prosperity.”

Each of the following Members will serve in these posts effective immediately:

Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

  • Congressman Mike Thompson of California
  • Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky of Illinois
  • Congressman Jim Langevin of Rhode Island
  • Congressman Adam Schiff of California
  • Congressman Luis Gutierrez of Illinois
  • Congressman Ed Pastor of Arizona
  • Congressman Jim Himes of Connecticut
  • Congresswoman Terri Sewell of Alabama

House Administration Committee

  • Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren of California
  • Congressman Juan Vargas of California

Joint Economic Committee

  • Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez of California
  • Congressman Elijah Cummings of Maryland
  • Congressman John Delaney of Maryland

Agriculture Committee

  • Congressman John Garamendi of California

Budget Committee

  • Congressman Earl Blumenauer of Oregon

Oversight & Government Reform Committee

  • Congressman Peter Welch of Vermont
