Congresswoman Terri Sewell Responds to President Obama’s Speech

Birmingham, AL—Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL) today released the following statement in reaction to President Obama's speech in Cleveland, Ohio:

"Yesterday the President outlined two fundamentally different visions for how we grow the economy, create middle-class jobs and pay down the debt. Our future is at stake in this election, and it's clear that the path laid out by the President is the right course for America's economic future.

President Obama understands that we must invest in our middle-class now in order to create an economy built to last.  He believes that America prospers when hard work pays off, responsibility is rewarded, and everyone gets a fair shot.  The President's speech in Ohio was a clear indication of the choice we have in this election: We can continue to move forward with President Obama or go backwards with Mitt Romney.

Alabama’s 7th Congressional District cannot afford to go backwards.  We must remain vigilant in strengthening the middle-class by staying on a path that stimulates our economy, creates jobs, strengthens small business development and reduces our deficit. We must get to work now to ensure that our President is elected to a second term!”
