Congresswoman Terri Sewell Attends the Democratic National Convention
Charlotte, NC—Today, Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL) released the following statement on the opening day of official proceedings at the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina:
"I am so excited to be a part of the Alabama delegation as we prepare to officially name President Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee. President Obama is the only choice for the 7th Congressional District and the best choice for our nation. The Alabama delegation is fired up and ready to re-elect President Obama.
This week, Democrats will celebrate President Obama’s accomplishments—29 straight months of job growth, healthcare reform, fair pay for women, financial reform, and so much more. This Convention is about mapping out our road ahead. President Obama has a plan to move our nation forward. He believes that America prospers when hard work pays off, responsibility is rewarded, and everyone gets a fair shot.
President Obama puts people first, and that’s what matters most. Over the next couple of months, we’re going to work harder than ever to carry this message to voters and see that President Barack Obama is re-elected!”
Today at the Convention:
Congresswoman Sewell spoke at breakfast events for the Alabama and Iowa delegations that are staying in neighboring hotels.
Congresswoman Sewell will participate in the Women’s Campaign Fund Forum on women in politics and the media.
Congresswoman Sewell will appear on MSNBC’s Martin Bashir show to preview First Lady Michelle Obama’s speech.
Congresswoman Sewell will join Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi on the Convention Stage at 7:00pm EST for a Celebration of the Democratic Women of the House.
